Mt AIRY LODGE - POCONOS / PENNSYLVANIA

Yesterday - I took my wife out for dinner (Early Mothers day) at the NEWER Mt Airy lodge in the POCONOS... We both wanted to check it out for some time now.. We took Susie, and my little girl (almost 5 now) as neither of us play slots much.. The whole point was to TRY and find a really nice buffet. The buffet is called.. Mt Airy Buffet by the way.

$96.00 on the debit card for the 4 of us. No discount for the kid.

We had many OK dishes but I must say - the price was a bit high.. for OUR area.. (not me as much) but I know many people that would pass on the price. NOTHING really stood out as INCREDIBLE.. I've had much better food in a much better room while in VEGAS. It was all good food..the room looked sharp just not as sharp as some of the $20+ buffets in Vegas... I think it's more a $15.00 price tag (What ever happened to giving a gambler a break) - Again, I'm basing my take (price) on the area around here.. Maybe they target NJ?

As to the casino - I'll give them a B+ It looks like a HIGH END Vegas joint, size and color wise, nice floor plan, I noticed some of the larger scale decorations were - ahh - just cheap metal. Cheap metal painted in bright colors - NOT really upscale for what the rest of the property is.. (it stood out to me as an artist) for what Mt AIRY LODGE "WAS". Loads of stone.. It has an Indian tribe look to it.. "lodge look".. which fits the area makes sense with the properties name.

I ended up playing with my daughter outside and sent my wife to slots with 120.00 - She played a while (45 min) and then came to me with a $77 voucher (she had enough of slots, Donna is not much of a gambler) - The kid was sleepy so my wife took her to car - and I headed back in - planning on playing the $77 down - FULL CREDIT spins to see what would happen. Well - I started out on a $1 machine "money Machine" - took it up to $120.00 - then played another PENNY machine - for 150 penny pulls - (God - I love penny machines) Players have darn near NO CHANCE.. I was just trying to GIVE them some action MORE to see if we would get a cheap room offer for a day or two get-a-way. Well - I played and played and finally after 30 min - I cashed out for $45.00 DOWN $75. I had to go - I'm not one of those guys that will gamble all night with family in car. We bought coffee for $5.00 and put the rest in the gas tank for the ride home.

Mt AIRY LODGE is clean and FRESH LOOKING.. and in a VERY NICE LOOKING "deep wooded area" It appears to have a NIGHTLIFE scene for the younger crowd... Which is nice. I forget the name of the dance room. If you are into GOLF - It has you covered. If you are into nature - It has you covered. If you are into SHOPPING - It has you covered with a major OUTLET just a few miles down the road.

We hear the OTHER dining rooms are nice as well - people said the food was very good.. (they did not mention price) Maybe on our next trip - We will not be making any SPECIAL TRIPS - but if we are in the area.. WE ARE IN for the food. We go to the CROSSROADS outlets a few times a year in good years.

I'll be happy to visit on a regular basis if PENNSYLVANIA allows table games though.. like say... POKER! ;)

If you are in area and you like SLOTS.. GO for it!

Oh! SIDE NOTE - My wife thought is was smokey - It did not bother me as much, nor did I even notice it really.. MAYBE she sat too close to a CHAIN SMOKER or something..
